Not since the 53rd has there been a gathering of the Mayors of each district to present Distinguished Districters and to show off their “Citizens of the Year” or COTYs: people that Mayors have personally selected to represent the ‘best’ of their district ([read: sometimes a loose interpretation of just who or what the best may be).
In the wake of the death of President Snow, and in the spirit of Panem solidarity, the Districts have been presented with an opportunity not seen in ages: the chance to meet together to recognize the good deeds of their own.
Tucked away in the cozy forests of district seven, this year’s celebration is sure to be like no other. Hosted by none other than Valentino Salazar, the event is sure to bring all the pomp and intrigue of celebration’s past. What a win for a first-term Mayor! Now, can the garrulous politician live up to the hype he’s created for the ceremonies?Schedule of EventsMeeting of the Mayors
The twelve heads of state are invited to partake in a private dinner and drinks to discuss issues facing their districts and to size up one another face to face. Careful, Mayor - have all the old grudges between your district and the others vanished just because you’re seated alongside one another? And is that dull hum the lights hanging from the high wooden beams overhead, or the listening devices the capitol put in place to make sure they hear every word of what’s discussed? Panem today, Panem tomorrow, Panem forever… right?Coty Awards Presentation & GalaHand selected to attend the prestigious awards ceremony are the Distinguished Districters - those that have received citations for their hard work throughout the year in their districts. Congratulations! Your face will be featured in a small pamphlet with a three sentence bio in size 6 font. You’ve really made it, citizen! Hob knob with all the other amazing folks sitting at the tables toward the back of the room, just a stone’s throw away from the distinguished guests of honor!
That’s right, we’re speaking of the Citizens of the Year nominees, or those individuals Mayors have personally cited for their actions toward the district. You know you’ve earned your place in history with a small plaque and a sash! Enjoy the imitation foie gras and personal validation! Tonight, you sit at the head table so everyone can gawk at your magnificence.OOC - The DetailsFor the first time in 35 Years, Panem will be holding the Citizen of the Year Ceremony! This means your character(s) have the chance to attend a fancy gala to drink, dance, and be recognized for their contributions to society. Neat!
For Mayors: You’re invited to partake in the Meeting of the Mayors, so RSVP for a thread dedicated to allowing the mayors to meet, gossip, shade, and party with one another if they so choose!
Additionally, Mayors may nominate a Citizen of the Year to represent their district!
Anyone can send along a Distinguished Districter to be recognized for their deeds big and small.
