get me drinking that moonshine
get me higher than a grocery bill
take my troubles to the high wall
throw them in the river and get your fill

Killua hated feelings.
He hated talking about his, but most importantly, he hated talking about others. Pretending he cared was not something he was particularly well versed in. But, he was self aware enough to realize he had fucked up. And fucked up bad. Like, making your only friend cry by bringing up their dead mom, bad.
So there Killua was, standing in front of Adrian's front door, mustering up the courage to knock. He knew he couldn't avoid the conversation forever. He knew Adrian was avoiding him too - the boy almost always made a conscious effort to visit Killua each morning, yet his absence first thing in the morning put a whole damper on his day. It was like a missing void only filled in by the other boy - a sign that he had grown on Killua, much to his dismay. He found himself craving the other boy more and more ever since Killua found out about his attraction to him. Adrian's interest in Killua became more and more like a drug to him - the more attention Adrian gave to him, the more the high in Killua's veins pulsed through, reeling him into a dark and slippery path known as feelings.
And yet, as much as Killua hated feelings, he hated the withdrawal symptoms that came with Adrian's abscence even more.
After a moment of hesitation, Killua began to wrap on Adrian's front door, breathing in the coastal air as he attempted to calm his senses. He was completely sober - a first for him in a while, which elevated his anxiety levels and made him hyperaware of all of his surroundings. The wind blowing the palm trees, the seagulls cawing in the distance, and most importantly...
The overwhelming smell of whiskey as the door was thrown open, banging against its hinges as the force of the door slammed against the wall adjacent to it.
And there in front of Killua's face was a man. Intimidating, scary, and most of all, stupidly intoxicated (as evidenced by his red eyes and slightly jaundiced skin). Killua cleared his throat nervously as he looked the man he identified as Adrian's dad in the eye, trying to avoid looking at his muscles that were almost as threatening as the angry expression that laid on his face.
"Uh, is Adrian here?" He stammered.
