Sure, the food was great, but what else was there to this?

Robin's belly peeked out slightly from his rib cage after eating absolutely everything in sight. But, it wasn't the stomach grumbles that were keeping him curled up in bed with the lights off. Nor was it the fact that the mattress seemed to melt into his pale skin and hug his frail body all night. It was just inevitability. Certainly, with every single odd stacked up against him, there was no way he would be walking out of the arena alive in a couple of weeks.

Even Willa hadn't stuck around for any of the mentoring now that she'd found some buddies in the Training Center. She spent time off with Teddy as what seemed like private lessons that had nothing to do with Robin. He saw how it was, give the one with a better chance to the more experienced member and he got - Flynn. The door crashed open the second he thought of the boy almost as if he'd called to him.

Flynn was a year younger and his unbreaking enthusiasm made Robin want to ensure he stayed that age.. forever. But he was kind and patient, and caring. All sides that Robin didn't get to see in the highlight reel for the Games. To Robin, Flynn had been nothing more than the murderous kid with the gun, the latest hometown killer. It was hard to see past his deadly accuracy with that gun to see the caring eyes that bore into Robin's own.

Robin flipped over in the covers to face the begging boy. Please try. That's what Flynn's tone said. Don't do this. Don't be that guy. You know, the one who steps off the plate and blows up. But it was difficult. To try. To commit. There was nothing worse than getting his hopes up because what if he failed? What then? Robin's blood didn't need to be in Flynn's hands.

"Hey Flynn," he croaked out in a near whisper. After hours of silence, his voice crackled under the use. "I'm fine - really. I'm just napping."
