Every good heist starts with a simple desire.
A simple desire of a craving for a delicious cake which he wasn't supposed to see. A red velvet cake hidden behind the counters where staff served to the tribute's meals. None of them had gotten a piece of that glorious cake at all. Disappointment in his heart as Bellamy knew there wasn't much time before a kid tried poking through his heart with a sword. All afternoon, he'd spent thinking about how delicious a cake from the capitol would taste. At the orphanage, they never got desserts. Most of them were too expensive, except for their birthdays. Special days where he got a sweet tooth for the desserts the orphanage's owner put into them. Every year, he looked forward to his birthday and every year he was never disappointed.
Today, Bellamy had a craving for frosting just staring at the cake as if it were mocking him. A server having given him an eye when he didn't respond right away, giving him the lunch he didn't really want, but knew he needed to eat. Most of his meals there had been larger than anything he'd had at home. Except today, none of it satisfied that craving. His eyes follow the room, remembering the times he's got written down in his notepad. Evening was when the kitchen was clearly empty; no one to keep watch on a cake and the perfect opportunity to get his hands on some of it. Normally, Bellamy would have done it himself. Sneak into the kitchen on his own, but there was a simple issue with the kitchen.
While rooms had locks on them, getting inside was easy. The capitol's training center kitchen though, there was a padlock for the fridge. As crazy as it sounded, Bellamy hadn't quite figured out how to pick a lock correctly. Most of the time, he got Lucas to pick them for him or found one of the younger kids to do it for him. In the capitol, he was alone in this. Sure, he could ask Mauve, but he's not quite sure she'll actually help him, plus who wants to share a slice of cake with her unnerving eyes. Could end up like the train again and get him into even more trouble. So what does a wannabe detective with a craving do?
He relies on the information he has gathering, looking through his notes until he reaches Nine with a sigh. Stereotypes were bad, but he hoped the district with too many gang wars could help. Quickly, he approached Avriel, the boy from Nine with a cautious look as he smiled softly, glancing around the halls for anyone listening. They had a little bit of time. Quietly, he speaks up with caution in his tone.
"Nine? Right?" Bellamy doesn't wait for a response, instead he continues. "Any chance you want some red velvet cake? I need an accomplice."
