Solar Power (Frigay vs Floraspore; Day 2)

He felt the brush of something hit him as they ran through the obstacle course. He paused for a moment, realizing that his head had been pounding a little. However, that did not stop Fleur from continuing on. He sighed as stood back up and tried to focus himself, knowing well that he could use his height to his advantage.

He realized quickly that he was not going to win this race, because she had already taken off at lightning speed, and while Thread had been taller, that did not equate to him being faster. He could not cover more ground.

But he had to admit, he had fun doing it, and he already knew that he had been able to put some distance between himself and his brother. He knew what they said about him. His first day was spent being bitter towards one of his alliance members.

Thread would not repeat that mistake.

Maybe he just let her win? He actually wouldnt deny that, to be quite clear. He had always been the type of person that wanted to go with the flow, and while he had spent years trying to bury whatever trauma he had experienced with his brothers demise, he realized that there was no escaping that here in Panem.

It was moments like this he wished he could have paid someone to forget.

But that did not matter, and to be quite clear, he would not change his mind for any reason. He was here, and he was willing to accept it, so being apart of something bigger than yourself applied. Sure, Thread wished his name wasnt called, but this was his chance to at least clear the Gabel name.

To be honest, he had to make it far enough to do so.

He took the first nap of the night, thinking about how trusting he was. He knew well that could have backfired on him, proven that he could have done everything wrong and wind up with a knife in his throat. He had no doubt that Fleur could kill him in his sleep, and to be quite honest, Thread would have not blamed her. He would have been out of her way.

But they were legacies. Children related to past children that had died in the games before. It was nothing new, and they were not the only ones, but something spoke to Thread. They both had a chip on their shoulder. Thread knew he did at the very least. He would do anything to at least get his name cleared. He might have looked like his brother, but his eyes were different. Threads were kinder, and so was his demeanor. Thread understood the value of a team.

And so when he woke up, he looked to Fleur and saw a giant pile of stuff just chilling out at the wayside. "Was this all sent while I was sleeping?" Thread noticed the note on a couple of the items. One of them said "Exist" "What kind of pretentious..." Thread started before realizing that a medkit had been present in the bundle. He looked at Fleur and gave her a weak smile. "Well, you won, enjoy sleeping through the night." Thread laughed a little before standing up and grabbing the machete that he had found as they found a spot to hide.

Convenient to say the least.

Time passed and he noticed that some loud noise had taken over the silence, and a large blue light had been broadcasted over sky. The anthem.

Thread cracked his knuckles as he took a second to watch who exactly appeared on the screen in front of them. He made his guess earlier, and now he wanted to know if he was right.

When he saw the girl from one, he grinned, realizing that he had been partially right. A legacy did in fact fall, however, he wasnt thinking it was going to be a Le Roux. He was just happy that it wasnt himself at the end of the day.

He watched as Fleur had rummaged in her sleep a little bit, and instead of disturbing her, he remained silent as he stayed as vigilant as he could. It had already been pretty warm, so a fire had not been necessary for them to survive the night. He leaned against the tree as he looked out of their vantage point and he wondered just how big this place was. The arena had a different vibe from the one that Stitch was in. A bit more lively and vibrant at the very least.

Thread couldnt place his finger on it, but he would spend the rest of the night thinking about it.

Thread stood up and nudged Fleur. It was time to go. The last thing that he wanted was for them to be hunted because they wanted to take as much time to sleep as possible. It wasnt like anyone was going to wait for them to go, so that just meant do it. Right?

"We should find some plants or something. It would be useful for us in the long run. I can tell which ones would be beneficial to us." Thread offered as he had shoved what he needed in his bag and slipped the weapons in the corresponding spots. "Lets get to exploring." Thread smirked for a moment as he offered his hand to Fleur.

He was confident they were going to make it through this until they couldnt.

It felt like hours since they had been walking, but Thread had noticed the greenery in the area they had been walking in. "Oh, this could work." Thread said as he walked forward, sweat dripping down his face, slightly wondering if they made a mistake not looking for water first.

His lips had smacked a little bit, but he was confident in his choice as he pointed to large group of plants. "So the plants next to that bush are edible." He said as they got closer to the verdant bush. He could at least grab a couple and then they could have a back up meal if necessary. As he got closer, he heard something in the distance. He stopped, but continued on once he had heard the sound dissipate.

And then something came out of the bushes and hit Fleur in the leg.

"Really?" Thread had been a little frustrated, he watched as a little mutt had walked out of the bushes. His face had twisted a little and he pulled the spear close to himself. "Maybe this is why my brother was such a monster." He was inquiring for a moment, and then striking next.

He was so scared.

But he felt so alive.

fleur shrieks "what the hell is this thing"

there is now a purple welt on her leg with blood dripping into the grass

she internally waxes poetic about hating to have to get so close with the sword but knows guns are no good against literal plant creatures

she moves her injured leg back which makes her aim a bit off bc she's right-side dominant
