Anthem: Day 4

It’s not hard to fall asleep to the soft crackle of the fire still burning in the middle of the circle, its flames dancing their way up before fizzling out. Strategy and fighting can be resumed after a good night’s rest, but for those who have trouble falling asleep, they might notice the cloud cover start to creep over the campfire circle. Before the concern can even penetrate your mind, the anthem plays and once again, a single face populates the sky.

Congratulations on surviving Day 3 campers!

Overnight, the clouds slowly move across the sky, until even the bright moon is obstructed by a misty haze. With each little inch its shadow covers, some rain drops fall delicately from the sky, providing immediate relief from the humid, sticky feeling on the skin. It isn’t until day break that the rain drops begin to fall faster and the rain drops become larger. A bright flash illuminates the sky—it’s too early for an anthem—and a loud thunderclap quickly accompanies it. There is no drainage system here and the water starts to quickly collect. As if timed perfectly, Gamemaker Callienta’s voice booms across the arena: “Good morning, campers! We hope you enjoyed last night’s campfire activity. Today’s weather will be thunderstorms with heavy rain and I don’t think this is a passing storm.” An awkward pause fills the air as it’s not clear if she’s done speaking or not. “Well? You’d better get moving if you don’t want today’s camp activity to be drowning!”
