"I have swept away your offences like a cloud, your sins like the morning mist. Return to me, for I have redeemed you." [Isaiah 44:22]
It was like time had frozen all together. Six didn't flinch or scream when the spear entered his neck, at least not at first. His sobs were momentarily silent and his tears dried themselves. And then, the pain hit him. The blood spilling out of his throat and filling his lungs. He coughed and gagged and choked, trying desperately to breathe, to live. But soon he realised it was hopeless, he was about to die.
He wasn't going to fight his death anymore. There was no point to it. Nothing he or Thad or even God could do would be able to save him anymore. The tears resumed as he let his body fall to the ground and his eyes struggled to stay open. He felt death's icy grip around him as he tried to watch Thad through the rain. He couldn't die too.
With the little bit of remaining strength he had, his raspy voice called out. He wondered if anyone could hear him through the rain and the thunder, or if he was just talking to the rain and the cameras. Part of him wanted to take this chance to beg for help, or for mercy. But it was pointless. The time for mercy was over.
"Thad- run-"
He almost left it at that as he let his eyes closed. The pain was overwhelming and he was about to let death take him. But then, he realised there was something he had to do. He wanted his death to mean something, and if it stopped even one person from willing entering this pageant of death it would have meant something.
At this point he couldn't open his eyes back up. And he was almost positive Love nor Waverly nor Julian or Thad could hear him. But, they weren't who this was for. It was for his siblings, brainwashed to believe the necessity of the Hunger Games. It was for the people like Evan and Estelle, the ones who volunteered. It was for the Capitol, the people who found a sick sense of joy from the pain.
"They- they lied. There's no honor- only suffering. This nee- needs to end-"
And those were the final words of Six O'Malley as his body went limp and the pain began to fade. The coldness from the rain and the blood loss were starting to be replaced by warmth, the warm touch of his family or the warmth of the sun shining on the fields of Eleven. He saw a light at the end of the darkness, the shining face of Winger O'Malley. Finally, his suffering was ending. Six O'Malley could find rest
