* * *She had left Robin with the tent, slipping through the woods with the cover of the rain and the trees. She had heard a scuffle, the sound of feet crashing through muddy earth and the sounds of desperate pleas. Before her is a clearing and in the pouring rain she watches as Liara drags his body, a lifeless weight. Mauve felt herself go still, her mind going blank and her mouth slipping open.
No.
Bellamy.
No.
No, no, no, no.
This wasn't how it was supposed to happen. She had left him with the protection of a career from two. He should have been safe, safe until she found them again. Safe until it was her weapon that pierced his heart claiming his life. Just like Bubby Caro, Bellamy Scott belonged to her. Mauve Morganstern was greedy and selfish and hungry and possessive. And Bellamy Scott was her's. He was hers-
And yet he was dead.
Dead in Liara's arms.
And she shouldn't care. She shouldn't care but her body burned with rage, her hands tightening into tight fists. She was so mad at him, infuriated by the way he had managed to get under her skin, infuriated by the way the fire that burned within her seems to burn without restraint.
She would kill the person who took him away from her. She would kill the person who played with her toys and then broke them like they meant nothing.
I'm not afraid to send you home in a coffin, Mauve.
He had threatened her only yesterday, determined, angry eyes meeting her own. A threat that had caressed her skin the same way it might have if he were her lover, whispering sweet nothings. She had been excited at the prospect, the anticipation of a taboo fight of district partners going head to head, where only one would come out alive.
And someone had taken that away from her like stealing fucking candy from a baby.
Her lips curl into a snarl as she watches from the tree line, hidden from sight.
Breaking through the clearing she approaches the career, hands in her pockets she looks at her then to Bellamy, careful to hide any emotions that might be surging within her. She couldn't let Liara see, she wouldn't let Liara see. She looks at Liara with indifference, pulling her hair from her face.
"What happened?"
