Anthem: Day 7

The mist has parted and 4 more cannons had been set off during the long day. The ground is soaked in blood and water, and with days of constant fighting and terrible weather, the idyllic camp scene has begun to chip away to reveal the cold, hardened truth: this is still the Games. As if to stop the reminder from sinking in, a series of loud bangs sets off throughout the arena as fireworks illuminate the sky.

The anthem begins to play from the megaphones, the song becoming scratchier and more distorted the longer it goes. Four faces are broadcasted to the sky:

After a few gloomy days, you welcome the morning sun, but it never seems to come. Instead, the clear night sky is peppered with twinkling and mocking stars as the moon has shifted into a full moon. It is your new source of light, but it can’t help that heavy feeling on your face as your breath fogs around your mouth. You can claw at it, but these masks have been secured tightly and refuse to budge regardless of any force you use. To make matters worse, for some of you, where you wake up is not where you were and anybody you had been traveling with is no longer besides you. Maybe it’s for the better: now you don’t have to think about how you’re going to kill them.

There is still ringing in your ears from the fireworks the night before, and it’s through the buzz that you can hardly hear Gamemaker Callienta’s voice. “Good morning, campers—or rather, good night. Good for you for making it this far, but if you want to win, you’ll have to get rid of those masks and the only way to do so is to ki—.” The rest of her message is heavily inundated with static and any hope for further instruction is lost.
