"Illumi, I have your assignment. Walk with me." My father enters my room, he speaks quietly, but instantly his voice snaps me to attention. Silva Zoldyck was a very powerful and deadly man, and just his presence was enough to make a room feel small. Quickly I pick myself up from my bed, falling in step behind my father. "I have a name for you: Dietmar Preminger." We round a corner, the name being imprinted into my memory. "He's engaged to Sophia Belrose. They live in a wealthy estate and with one child: Annalise Belrose. Security is tight. A timeframe was not given for the time of death, but I trust you will make quick work of it."
"Of course, father," I promise before slipping away into the dark halls of the mansion. We lived on the outskirts of the district, an extravagant mansion that was known to the district, but feared because of the stories of those who called it home. I quickly make my way to my office space, flicking on the computer I begin my search.
In the library I re-arrange my dress, tucking the dark locks of my hair behind an ear I keep my eye on the door, watching and waiting for my target to arrive. This assignment was going to be more difficult than a simple assassination. The security around the estate was a complication, one that would be key to the operations success, or its failure. Father hadn't given me any advice on how to get around it- not that I asked him. I thought about approaching Killua, dragging his sorry ass along, maybe use it as a training assignment. But the further I deep dived into the situation, the more complications arose.
Mr Dietmar Preminger seemed to be a guy who was well protected. It was not my job to wonder why a hit was placed on my targets, but some times I couldn't help but speculate why.
A bell chimes and my gaze flicks to the sliding doors, a stunning blonde enters and instantly I recognise her as my target. "Bingo," I mumble under my breath, casually pulling myself from my seated spot in the corner, browsing the aisle. Annalise Belrose was a science junkie, not that she cared to admit it to her family. Her favourite was Geology, and I watch from a distance as she makes a beeline towards the Sciences.
Hiking my backpack onto my shoulder I quickly move to follow. Earlier I had identified the book that she was after, knowing exactly where it was placed on a shelf filled with boring books on rocks. Having hacked her library membership I noted that she had a book on reserve, I knew the title, the author and hopefully enough on the topic to engage the girl in conversation. I couldn't understand how someone could find rocks so fascinating, but Annalise Belrose was obsessed it seems, and today was no different.
Rounding the aisle I meet her halfway, my hand in sync with her's, reaching for the book. "Oh- sorry, you take it," I say, with a shy smile.
