Hi, Cecily! It's nice to meet you. This feels kind of weird to me, I don't know about you. It's been awhile since I was kind of excited to write, but this seems kind of cool. I haven't had a whole lot of people to talk to ever since I moved to the foster home, so this is nice for that purpose too : ). What do you look like? I attached a picture of me that I took with those little polaroids they offer us to send pictures of our lives at home.

I saw that you have two dads! I had two moms for a while so I think that's cool. What do they do for a living? My one mom, Slyvie, used to work as a local nurse here. Blair worked as an artist of sorts and did a lot of art regarding the space and stars. I took upon Blair's love for art more than Sylvie. I attached a picture of one of the sketches I've done. It came from a place of how I want to once have a relationship like my moms once had. It was nice to see. Burning a curtain sounds... cool? I assume that it didn't have very nice repercussions.

What's life like in District 8? Do you guys have pets? There's this cute dog that always strolls by the foster home and I like to feed him and give him pets. I sent a picture of him! I think it's a him. I named him Astro because stars are cool. What makes your brother such a dickhead? I sometimes wish I had a sibling just because I think it'd be nice to have someone to talk to. But maybe you can prove me otherwise! I'd like to hear about it.

Anyways, I think that's it for now. Sorry if this is weird. I don't know how to do this whole letter-writing thing. Hope to hear from you soon! Pun not intended.

Thanks for the photos, they're neat! Especially the one of Astro. I love dogs but Dads say I can't have one til I'm older. They don't think I'm responsible enough, can you believe?!

I've only got one photo of me but it's out of focus because Pa is terrible with cameras and then we ran out of film. So enjoy the picture of the grass outside of my backyard last summer!

What's the foster home like? I wish I was adopted sometimes. I mean, I might be, two Dads and all - but naw, I'm one of theirs biologically unfortunately. I look too much like my wretched Grandma when she was young. There's loads of photos of her from when she was young because she was a model. Now she's old and wrinkly and I think that's why she hates me.

My Dads, well, one of them's a mechanic and the other one is currently a post man. He's probably delivering this letter later, isn't that cool? Dad if you're reading this -- GET OUT!!! Your art is so cool, I'll show him it! Dad wants to be an artist too. Pa's all maths and Dad's all art, neat huh? Opposites attract I guess!

My brother's just so annoying. You're lucky you don't have siblings. I would definitely thrive as an only child. I reckon I was meant to be one, like, fate. But then the universe decided to punish me. He's always making fun of me and taking up all the attention at family gatherings. Smooching up to all my aunts and uncles. He stays at my Aunt Birdie's house all the time even though I know she finds him annoying too. He just thinks he's all that y'know?

Anyway my wrist is sore from the angry writing about him. He actually almost died once in a factory collapse and just between you and me I was really worried, but then he dragged out this girl who was trapped inside with one of those 80th tributes and was hailed a local hero. Ugh!!

District Eight's kind of a [ REDACTED ] but it's home yknow? Everyone looks at me weird because of my last name but I don't pay them any mind. My house is pretty standard, bet yours is HUGE with all the kids there. I have a treehouse. Ain't been in it in a while, but it's there! I'll try find some film and take a photo for you next time.

Send more pics of dogs! I'm going to pin Astro's one up in my room. He looks so handsome!

Hi! It's great hearing back from you so soon. Cici. Right. I like that! It sounds cool. You can call me Thomas if you want, but Thompson is also fine. I don't mind either way. I'm glad you like the picture of Astro! He's a sweetie, not around as often. Typically goes off to his day after I give him my daily pets. That stinks that your dads wont let you get a dog! I think it's a crime. Everyone should have the right to puppage. Unless it'll kill you. In that case, don't get a dog. But I'm assuming you won't be hurt from having a dog, so you should get one! Take this as a professional dog petters' advice, I think it qualifies for something right?

That picture still looks nice! It's nice to have a face to who I'm writing to. I'll pin it up so I can imagine talking to you personally. I think the grass looks perfect. Or at least good enough. Gives a good contrast, ya know?

The foster home is okay. I like my room, it's a bit empty though. I have my little telescope that one of my mom's gave to me before they disappeared on a shelf and I have a bunch of my drawings that I've made of constellations. A lot of space stuff! I think stars are super cool, along with constellations. There's just so much to learn from them. I was in the same situation as you, I was related to one of my moms blood wise. The picture I attached is of Sylvie, she's my biological mom. It's an old picture of us but I still like it. Don't worry, I have another copy with me. That's cool that your dads do those things!! I think the foster home leader, Delilah, expected them to be some sort of fashion wizards because of the district. I think because of the district. It'd be a bit disappointing if she assumed that because they're gay! So much for a foster home for the LGBT. I guess opposites do attract, though! I hope he likes my drawing as much as you do.

Agh, I'm sorry your brother sucks so much. I guess I am lucky to not have one. I just get lonely sometimes here. I wish I had people to talk about my moms with, you know? That understood their quirks and stuff. Like how Sylvie gave the best back rubs and Blair was a rockstar when it came to baked goods.

Hey, if he dies by "mysterious circumstances", I didn't hear anything about it! So much for a local hero! He sounds like a pain in the butt. I will support whatever mysterious circumstance happens to claim him.

It is pretty big! It makes it feel like a bit of a prison though. So much space and so little people and stuff. A treehouse sounds super cool though! I'm excited to see what it looks like when you write back. I would love a treehouse to stargaze out of. It must be super pretty. I'd definitely be up there a lot. It must be a nice spot to get away from that stupid brother of yours too!! I'm sorry that people give you weird looks for your name. That kind of stinks. It's not like you can control it!! Was any of the Hopes any of the people in your direct family? Sorry if that's a touchy subject! I hope you aren't offended by me asking. I heard that the father of three of the ones that died in the Games is a mayor now. That's kind of weird to me!

Sure thing with the dogs! I attached a picture of me with a bunch of dogs. Don't know where they came from, but they're there. I also attached a picture of a dog I named Beans. I don't know why I picked Beans, maybe just because I thought it was funny. Beans likes to just lay there and enjoy the sun. Sometimes I wish life was that simple.

Buddy, you get me! I'm gonna tell Dads that my new friend who is a professional definitely thinks I should get a dog. That'll make it sound like I've put a lot of time and thought into it. I think a dog would keep me out of trouble and Ripred knows I get into a lot of it.

Thanks for the photos! I could only afford two film pieces from the shop but I hope you like them. There's my treehouse, Pa built it for me when I was ten. It's a great place to hide when I need some space. I bet your telescope and my treehouse would make the best place to look at stars. (Found some star stickers, hope you like 'em!) I couldn't find any dogs to take a picture of so I took a picture of some birds in the tree instead. Not as cool as dogs, but, yeah!

Sylvie is really beautiful! She has nice energy. I like her hair too, I could never go that short but my hair's pretty short as-is. Also yay! More dogs! I'm getting quite a collection. Definitely going to hunt down a picture of a dog for my next letter. Just gotta do enough chores to get some pocket money. PS: Beans is a GREAT name for a dog.

An orphanage for LGBT kids? That's so cool! Man, all our orphanages are just the plain ol' boring ones with all the kids with no parents. I bet you guys have fun there!

It's okay, you can ask about my family. Yes they were my cousins or something, but they died before I was born and when I was really young so I don't remember them at all. Uncle Pierre's the mayor and he's actually really nice. He really cares about this [ REDACTED ] district. Lots of people here like him. I think people feel sorry for us a bit. But it's okay when you ask, because it's different (:

Food is great! We don't have exciting food (I bet District Two has LOADS of cool stuff) but I do love apple pie. I get it every year for my birthday. And we have these things called Finger Buns, they're long rolls of bread with icing and sprinkles on 'em. Sometimes they're even filled with jam. What's your favourite?

Hey! I'm glad that my professional advice means something as a fellow dog petter. I could even try and see if there's some sort of article in our library that we have about dogs and the psychological benefits. It might be a stretch though! Either way, I hope you send updates on the quest for dogs! Trouble isn't always a bad thing, I've heard that sometimes it's good to let minds do their own thing! But maybe I heard it wrong. I don't have any pictures this time sadly!! Something happened with the flash and it's all too wonky to send, but I'll try to include some really neat ones next time! Be sure to ask to see anything ya' want in Two, I'll try and get a picture of it for you. Sylvie is definitely pretty. It's where I got the charming looks, obviously. I also like the name Beans! It gives a comedic effect whenever something goes wrong. Or if I just want to say "Beans!" Because it's fun. Try it!

The orphanage is pretty darn neat, I agree! It has a focus on providing the orphans with a bunch of art based skills. At first all I wanted to do was look at stars and stuff, which wasn't enough I guess. So then I'd sketch the stars and constellations and what I imagine they'd look like if they were people. I took up on the flute as well! It's a very pretty instrument. I like how I feel like the Pied Piper when I play it.

Well at least their passing didn't effect you that much! I'm glad that he's a nice guy as well. I've never really met our mayor. I'm glad that it's different. Maybe. I don't know, hopefully it being different is in a good way!

Apple pie is delicious! We have that here as well, but I don't get it as much. A lot of sweets makes my tummy ache. Which, given Blair's great baking skills, made my tummy ache a lot! Finger buns sound super yummy though. I'd totally try to get some if I ever got to visit. One of my favorite things to get here is something I haven't had until lately! It's this delicious plant based recipe. If you've had a baked potato, it's that, but with a sweet potato instead! It has chickpeas, kale and some vegan yogurt inside of it. One of my few friends at the foster home is vegan and he wanted me to try it.

Careers! I haven't spent a lot of time with them, simply because I never enrolled in the program. Sometimes I wish I did because the first aid skills seem like they'd be pretty handy. But yeah, Careers from my experience are okay. A few of them are a bit like those tiny dogs that don't shut up. All bark.

I think my favorite victor would have to be Kassandra Nerys! I think her arena was super cool. While the entire death thing isn't cool, the space thing was cool to me. Stars. I never really met our new victor, he kind of disappeared after the Games ended! I hope he's well.

That's a really good question!! I think I'd really like to go to a district that has a lot of nature to it. So maybe like, four, seven or ten? I think those would make most sense. I also want to see a horse!
