89th Mechanic - Infection

Hello! We are introducing an Infection mechanic for the 89th Games. This has been approved by the Gamemakers and Admins.

This came from conversations about the realism of injuries so we thought we’d introduce a new mechanic to help test that out.

This mechanic works a little like weather damage however only needs to be treated once.

Anyone who receives a +8 damage roll ( a deep gash/broken bone etc) must take an antibiotic pill or an antibacterial cream within 2 days so that they do not get an infection. On the second day after receiving a +8 damage hit with no infection treatment a tribute will receive +4 damage. 3 days after they will receive +8 damage and have a serious infection.

For example:
Bloodbath - receives a +8 damage hit.
Day 2 - Nothing. A chill day. Maybe a fever?
Day 3 - +4 damage and signs of an infection
Day 4 - +8 damage and a serious infection.

This is just one off treatment as an antibiotic should cover a tribute for the rest of the games. So a tribute can only receive ONE antibiotic item throughout the entirety games. The antibiotics will be accessible in the arena.

Antibiotic pill - heals -3 damage and fights infection
Antibacterial cream - fights infection but with no healing benefit.

If you do not wish to participate in the 89th Games with this mechanic, please DM a librarian or Kay to remove you from the reaping.
