Tune Walker is an enigma. Or rather a hypocrite. She does everything in her power to help Andrew understand that she does not want him around, yet when he and Carly skirt off to the river and leave her alone in the tavern the stinging fear of abandonment - and a dull thrumming of jealousy - strikes her core.

She's not sure who - or what - she yearns for more. The security that she feels with Carly at her side, watching each-other's backs. The strange, yet-unnamed sensation she gets around Andrew that everything just might be okay in the end.

Carefully, carefully, she picks her timing. They discuss as a group the quest bestowed upon them by the strange snot-coloured creature for a while, deciding to wait for the cover of dark before they exit the tavern. The faux sun begins to set when her body grows weary, clearly still in-tune with time outside of the arena. Now or never, she thinks glumly, hauling herself and her pack up from her seat at one of the booths.

"Want to go fill up our bottles?" she asks innocently, sidling up to Carly. "That ale tasted strange but it didn't do nothing for my thirst. And you said there's a river not too far from here... right?"

Carly and all her questions, all her clever angles and eyes in the back of her head. She probably sees right through Tune - and truthfully, Tune doesn't mind that concept one bit.

She's feeling a slight buzz from the ale. That's why a big smile spreads on her lips when Tune approaches, not because she's a soft-hearted idiot setting herself up to be hurt. It's not like she's new to this. She knows how friendships in the arena are fated to end. Just like she knows what it's like to be on the other side of the television screen, trying to reach through the white static, watching someone she loves become someone she loved. Powerless.

Maybe that's why she always reaches for control, greedily, or maybe that's just the working excuse. She laughs softly, pitifully at herself, but you could almost mistake her for another girl at the party. Someone smaller than the legend she's trying to build out of herself, kinder than the tribute she has to become to escape. In another timeline, her and Tune and Andrew have a chance, but she's already read ahead. She knows the spoilers. It terrifies her to grow more attached than she already is. "Want to fill up our bottles?"

For a short moment, she considers declining, but she doesn't trust Tune to not take on the task alone. Maybe it's unwise to go out into the evening like this, not entirely in her own head, or maybe that's what makes it seem so exciting. This is her first time drinking, ever, only because she might as well add the experience to her list while she's still able. She doesn't tell them, guards her truths like chinks in her armor, but she smiles. And it's not a tactic. It's real.

"Sure, of course I'll come. And you're right, I'm parched, too." She rolls up her sleeves, pulling the strap of her bag over her shoulder, filled with their empty canteens. "Think it's wise for you and I to be alone with each other, though?" She reflects on the performance they put on together as they secured the wealth, two girls rising from impossible odds to claim their treasure, both glancing over their shoulders to look at the same boy as they leave the tavern.

"We're a dangerous duo. We might just go and finish what we started this morning."
