His eyes have trouble adjusting to the new darkness within the cave system. It was bright a moment ago, but now only faint lights guide the way for Kaius as he pulls himself further into the cavern, mindful of any traps or divots in the trail. Whenever he blinks, the sun's vibrant impression spins rings of magenta and orange around his vision. He is Saturn, and they are his rings, reminding him that he's trapped no matter how deep he descends into the cave.

Kaius reapplies the torn bandages from his wrist. The wound, once sewn shut by needle and thread, has reopened due to the dragon's claws and sense of easy access to blood. Derecho's lantern ahead keeps him on the path and avoids getting lost in the cavern. His ally's anxious behavior worries Kaius. The battle seems to be the only time that Derecho is able to turn it off, the fear and worry radiating from the crown lodged into his head. How long until he realizes that that release can be satisfied by turning his deadly hammer on Kaius?

How long until 'protecting everyone' is thrown out the window for the both of them? Even Saturn, with his rings to protect him, can't evade an asteroid hurtling toward it. It's bound to happen, eventually.

Once his arm is bandaged again, Kaius takes his own lantern and helps light the way for Derecho. Cautious, he asks the dreaded question that all allies must ask eventually. "When do you think we're going to have to separate?" Nervous about the type of response he'll receive, Kaius chips the hilt of his sword with his fingernails. "If we don't think about it now, they'll decide for us. And I don't know if I'll like the decision those people make."

Gravity weighs everything down with its pull eventually. Back to reality.

Blood drips from the tip of the hammer splattering silently onto the ground. He turns, looking at Kaius wondering how long he can keep coming up clutch for someone who is unable to help himself. It's hard because Derecho knows he needs some sort of friendship to carry him further into this game, but right now, it feels as though he's doing all the work. Yet he's grateful for the company which is why he doesn't go away and why he doesn't tell anyone to run away.

Where would he go anyway?

The cave is dark and dimly lit, and the further they travel along, the more dread Derecho feels. It's hard to navigate, and even with the light from the lantern, it doesn't make it easier. It does save him from falling to his death several times now though.

"When do you think we're going to have to separate?"

Kaius asks the question he's been thinking of for so long. Eventually they'll have to separate from one another and continue this journey on their own. Friendships can only carry someone for so long in this arena before it becomes a solo game.

"If we don't think about it now, they'll decide for us. And I don't know if I'll like the decision those people make."

A heavy sigh leaves his chest as he leans against a wall trying to figure out how to keep himself balanced in the dimly lit cave. The rocks are slick and hard to maintain a footing on, but it seems like the best place to hide at the moment.

Thinking back to the previous games, usually on the sixth day is when everyone starts separating.

"I think we'll be good for one more day." His voice is calm, yet his heart is racing knowing the words that'll come soon. They could find themselves battling each other, and it's not something Derecho is prepared for even though he wants to win. "Most games people tend to separate from alliances on the sixth day." His voice trailed off out of fear for whatever may come next.

"I have a feeling we'll need each other tomorrow, but after that we very likely need to go our separate ways."
