Far to the west of District 10, under the burning sun and between the great plateaus, lies the first sanctuary of a fresh breed of zealots. Here, devotion is as essential as blood in your veins, your life the vessel of your new god. You, the ever loyal servant, and him, the deliverance of evil. He will protect you, and he will feed you and clothe you, and in return you will dedicate yourself to him alone. The naysayers threaten you with flames and pitchforks, but under him, you are safe.
If you are here, you believe Ansgar Todd will save you once more.
In the plummets of hope, the Church of Todd founded itself in the 75th by a man of the name Alban Garcia. This would not be Father Garcia's first church, he and his wife extremists that would be removed from a handful of sensibilities, preaching of the Great Reaping to come. Unlike the 75th, this would be no choice, all of the children of the district being gathered and annihilated in one grand gesture. It was preached that the savior, Ansgar, could prevent the mass trial, delivering only the most devoted of families from what awaited.
For he was the noblest of victors, and the purest of faith, Ansgar Todd had been made invincible during his own test of trust. Where so many others had failed, he had appealed to their God, and in exchange for his right eye, he would become a deity in his own right. This is the first tenant of Toddism, decreeing Ansgar the holy warrior and born-again son of the great God. One may never succeed Todd, only live to worship his glory and receive his blessings.
In his absence, twenty years have passed. The first generation of Toddists have aged and their kids born a purer idealogy, devoted not by choice but by lineage. Amidst their commune, these children have known nothing but the Church of Todd, and long for nothing else. They have memorized the Bible, they have sang in the holy choir, and they have praised the God of new and old alike. It is rare that an outsider joins their ranks, and impossible that an insider ever leaves.
Of the 100 followers, everyone has a purpose, and everyone has a role, bestowed upon them at the age of twelve. A dedication of their life, whether it be a preacher, a farmer or a custodian. You do not go outside of your holy purpose, and you do not question the role at hand. The highest of these roles is that of the Father, Alban Garcia himself, and then the Arch Lector, she who enforces the tenants of faith. Below them, the Proprietor, a man tasked with foreseeing the coming of Ansgar and the Grand Reaping.
Beneath the holy three, is that of the Priests and Priestesses, only the children of these roles being selected as the next generation of mouthpieces. The rest are followers, disciples who aid in the growth of their religion, their children the next generation of laborers. Everyone of the next generation looks towards that of Tanner Garcia for discipline, the prodigal son, a boy tasked with unifying the youth as they cross over into adulthood. The Tenants of Faith:
#1: There is no one above the Old God, or his holy child, Ansgar Todd.
#2: Every member of the Church of Todd has a purpose, and must devote themselves to the Divine to the fullest.
#3: You may only leave the commune when accompanied by a Divine: the holy three, or a head priest or priestess.
#4: No one leaves forever, and must always return to the sanctuary of the Church of Todd.
#5: Members may not question the Old or New God outside of confessionals.
#6: Children become adults at the age of sixteen, and will be paired off by the Proprietor accordingly.
#7: Disciples may not interact with outsiders, and must direct them to a Divine in their place.
#8: There is to be no praying near the graves at any point except for the funeral officiant.
#9: The following acts can and will be punished by ex-communication or holy execution: worshiping outside the Old and New God, becoming that of a false prophet, assaulting another member of the commune, conspiring against the Divine, and acts of deviant promiscuity.
#10: All hail the sacred rat, you must provide offerings on the Eve of Ratmas.
#11: Thou shall not modify one's own appearance.
