Walking through the town, suddenly a squad of Peacekeepers burst out of the crowd. "There he is!" one yells, pointing at me. They all start running at me, and instinctively I slip into the crowd. I rush by people, a few making rude comments. I hear the Peacekeepers yelling for someone to stop me, but no on obeys them.
Finally slipping into the alleys, I stop for a break. Why are they chasing me? I've made comments that could easily be the cause, but it was always in a safe place. Wait, I said I'd willingly kill a Peacekeeper in the woods. I guess the woods aren't a safe place to vent at the Peacekeepers anymore.
Suddenly a Peacekeeper bounds around the corner, and grabs my wrist before I have a chance to run off again. A few more come up behind me, stopping any possible escape if I break his grip. "No running now. You're going to a few weeks in prison for treasonous speech against the Capitol." he sneers, and his next words send a chill through my body. "Seems like you inherited idiocy from your mother after all." My eyes narrow and my jaws clench at that. How dare he insult my mother! She was a better person than he'll ever be! With an angry growl I punch him in the stomach, forcing all the air from him. His grip loosens, but the others grab me from behind, pulling my hair and handcuffing my hands behind my back. I start kicking and biting everything I get near, but a few blows to my stomach later and I'm dragged out of the alley and into a truck.
The ride is bumpy, and from the slit between the doors in the back of the truck, I can see we're following the train tracks. The handcuffs have been attached to a bar in the side of the truck, and a couple of Peacekeepers sit up front, separated from me by a metal wall with a think plastic window so they can make sure I don't try anything. When we arrive at the fence, the doors are thrown open, and I'm dragged out of the truck, blindfolded, and am forced to walk to my fate.
After a few minutes of walking they tell me to stop, then pull off my blindfold and take off the handcuffs. My wrists are raw from the long bumpy trip in the truck. I start trying to rub some feeling back into them, when I'm shoved roughly into a cell. A small cry passes my lips as I hit the ground from the shock, stunned for a moment. The door clangs closed behind me and I hear the lock activate with a click, rolling over on the stone floor, I see between the bars the Peacekeepers walk off, a couple laughing at the yelp I made when falling into the cell.I direct a sneer at them before standing up and dusting myself off.
Looking around my cell, I groan. However long I'm here, it's going to be even more uncomfortable than home. There are a couple of medal slabs sticking out of the walls, clearly meant to be beds. On another wall is a small sink. Apparently they want us to keep our hands clean. Then on the floor in a corner is a metal bowl, apparently meant to be the toilet. Really? This is horrible! We're expected to live here for a few days? Well, I guess it is supposed to be punishment.
Suddenly, the significance of the two beds hits me. I'm going to have a cell mate. I wonder if it will be someone else from District 9? Probably not. With a sigh of nervousness I sit on one of the slabs, lean my back against the wall, and wait to see if I'll get a cellmate soon, or if I'll just be bored.
