hello seattle, i am a manta ray,
deep beneath the blue waves.
i'll crawl the sandy bottom of puget sound,
and construct a summer home.
deep beneath the blue waves.

and construct a summer home.
The sun shone brightly in the cloudy skies of District Four, and - surprise surprise - Quartz Stonewall was spending that sunny afternoon swimming. It surprised her, how comfortable she felt swimming around others in the already-popular location. Normally she'd stray from everyone else, opting for a secluded, private spot, but today she was swimming for fun. She didn't need to lull over complicated thoughts by herself today. No, today was going to be enjoyable. It seemed like a lifetime since she'd swum without a care and just relished the ocean around her.
The glare of the sunlight against the reflective ocean top caused Quartz to squint a little against it's fierceness as she gazed around at her surroundings. Happily welcoming the unexpected good weather, quite a few people had flocked to the shores of District 4 today to make the most of the sunshine, Quartz along with them. Something about the cooling water against the humid air around her had a calm, balanced out her mindset. Treading water, her feet eventually found the sandy bottoms beneath her soles and rested her weight on the floor. A couple of surfers had managed to catch some waves closer towards the shore, whilst others threw a ball to another in the shallower waters. Quartz herself was further outwards from the shore - but close enough to still be able to find the floor under her feet.
Thankful for her long limbs, she began to swim closer towards the surfers, admiring the curling lips of the waves that rolled across the blue sea. She'd never learnt to surf before - preferring to be amongst the ocean than ride on top of it - but enjoyed to watch the others, jealous of their abilities. Quartz guessed that surfing was a lot harder than it looked, so ducked her head downwards and kicked through the water, resurfacing a few moments later - not realising her head was mere metres away from an oncoming board.
"Look out!" was all the warning she got before a load smack filled her ears, pain throbbing from her head as she was swept under the wave, body thrown around like a piece of rag in a washing machine.
She really needed to stop getting herself into stupid situations like this.
ooc; Hope this is ok? D: I read that he was a surfer, so, er, unexpected meeting? Let me know if it's rubbish.
