Skimming water?Try not to sink.~Mockingjay Swagger

Ashton's heart was in his throat. He had been running for over an hour now, and lying next to him was a very inviting ocean. His eyes skimmed the waves for any signs of life. Lately there have been some dolphins that like to play just past the surf, and ever since he had heard about them he looked for them everyday. Sweat poured off his blemish-free face in what seemed like buckets. It was pretty amazing that after all this running all the time that his face was clear. He did clean it often. Pictures flashed through his mind of the guys at school. They all had huge zits plastered over there face. Puberty hurts. He giggled to himself. Ash was in a rather good mood today. Even though his shirt was damp with sweat, this physical workout didn't dampen his mood.

Off into the distance stood the horizon, and below that a dock. The docks were busy with merchants selling fish and other goods. Wandering around the docks was a Peacekeeper. You could pick out those bastards from anywhere with their white suits. He snarled at the man, even though he was over a mile away and couldn't see him. He focused back on the horizon as he always did when he ran. Running in the sand was a lot better than running on the half paved, half gravel roads. It gave you a better sense of footing, and though many others would disagree, Ash thought running in the sand was easier than the the roads.

Gulls called to one another in the distance, and tropical sounding birds chirped in the forest. Waves beat against the shore, then went back into the ocean blue. The ocean air filled his lungs with delight. He was usually on the beach or in the water all day and he loved the smell. Sand squished in between his toes and his muscles pushed against him. He needed to slow down for a bit.

He saw a girl jumping back, but before he could slow himself down his ran into her. She hit the ground with a loud thud. As soon as she revealed her face to Ashton he knew who she was. Ink?! The Peacekeeper's daughter? "Watch where you're going, yeah?" 'Oh my god, I'm so sorry!' He exclaimed. He reached down and grabbed her from under her arms, yanking her off the ground. Maybe a little too hard. Are you okay? He asked, spinning her around and grabbing her by the shoulders. She looked over her shoulder at a book on the ground. He realized he was squeezing her shoulders and released her. Ash walked over to the book at the bottom of a tree and picked it up, reading the cover, while handing it to her. If she tells her Daddy about this I'm screwed. He thought to himself. He smiled and looked down, waiting for her to yell or something.
