[glow=red,2,300]Ink Marrow[/glow]
Ink sat cross legged propped up against a tree, pouring over a book her father had gotten her last month. She wanted to finish quickly so she could ship it off to some of the lower districts. Not that she'd let her father know, he just assumed she threw away the books when she was done like he did. She snorted. They were ridiculous.Denny had been the only good thing bout hat house, and now he was gone too.
Book of the month this time was some very, very old fiction about a boy who was a 'wizard' (whatever that was), and went to school with other wizards. It was all so completely ridiculous, but she couldn't tear her eyes away from the pages. Ink signed and shrugged off her jacket. It was so hot today, she was actually starting to sweat. Ink never sweats.
Ink looked to her left and helped as she saw a lizard perched on a root of the tree she was leaning against. She jumped up suddenly as the thing hissed at her. There were many things Ink could handle, and creepy, crawly things were not one of them. She looked down and realized she dropped her book. Eyeing the creature, Ink slowly reached down to pickup e book. She flinched and jumped up quickly,book in hand, when the lizard took a few steps toward her. She spun around and came out from behind the tree just in time to get slammed into.
Ink landed on the ground with a thud, then turned with a scowl on her face and stood. She wiped her hands on her jeans to get the newly cultivated dirt off of them. "Watch where you're going, yeah?" She had yet to look up to see who had run into her, nor did she care. She looked down and saw her book on the ground again, but made no move to pick it up. She saw that it was a boy who had run into her. She recognized him from around the district, Ashton was his name. She still made no move to pick up the book, he didn't need to know that she had been reading. Books were such a rarity these days she didn't need it to get around that she had had one.
