softer then the sun on a clear day yet you have the fire all around you that fuels your light and makes us all burn in your flame.
[/b] she finished. She guessed that was a gruesome story in itself, but she didn't see it that way. It was probably the same that she felt about Xander's training as he felt about hers. She looked up into the cherry tree above them. She loved the bright pink pedals that dazzled above her. Almost like magic, one of the bright pink pedals fell onto the grass beside her. Reaching for it, she popped the strawberry in her hand into her mouth. One day, when she first moved here, she had lied under this tree for a whole day, just playing with the pedals from the flowers. It was a comforting place, and one she deemed sacred. It had suprised her how she brought Xander here without even a second thought, even though it was so dear to her. She stood up and walked over to the tree, stroking it's smooth bark with her calloused hands. "When I lived back home, I had a cherry tree outside my window. When I went training on a windy day, I would leave my window open. Almost always when I came back, there were the flowers from the tree on my window seat. I kept most of them. I would dry them out and press them so that they would keep their beauty longer. As far as I know, there still in the box I put them in in my dresser."[/b] She spoke with a soft voice, one she hadn't used in a little while. Only when she talked to Maria did she speak the way she was now. Maybe it was the comfort of the memory of her darling cherry tree, or maybe it was that she wasn't alone.
Renn propped herself up into a sitting position and scooted over next to Xander. His pause made her brace herself. "Well, if I'm going to be honest I've been training since before I can remember. I think at a rough estimate I've been training for 18 years. My family wanted a champion in their family. They chose me to be that champion. I have two younger sisters, and one older brother, but they aren't exactly built for fighting. So as a result I've known nothing but fighting or working out. It payed off until today, I was undefeated, whether in a competition or just training. That is until today, I suffered my fist defeat, and I have to say it was a very humbling experience for me. I didn't like it, but it was humbling. I learned alot about myself and you from the battle, and I hope that it serves me well." Renn had heard some pretty gruesome training stories, but never had she ever met someone that had trained their entire lives. Renn was as committed to training, she had moved across the District to get the best of the best, but she started when she was about seven. She decided not to tell him that though. She wasn't here to tear down his confidence, and it seemed that his defeat had humbled him enough.
"When I was younger, about fifteen, I moved across the district to train here. My parents wanted the best for me. I don't plan on necessarily volunteering, but it's good to be prepared just in case. It gives me a goal to work towards and something to keep me busy,"
After stroking the bark for a second more, she returned to their spot. She had lost her appetite at the missing of home. She wondered about her parents constantly. But now she was in good hands, and she loved her new parents very much. Jameson and Maria lit up her world. She looked at Xander and let out a little laugh. Another bloom from the cherry tree fluttered to the ground and landed in between them. Renn reached for it, and so did Xander. Their hands touched and they each held a piece of the delicate flower. She moved her gaze from the flower to Xander. His eyes were something special. The sunlight glimmered off of the brilliance of the bronze in them. It was something that Renn had never seen before today. Almost every time she had looked at them today, she couldn't help but get lost in them. They were deep and dark and metallic, yet under all that there was something more. Something that confused Renn and made her heart race. Something that was telling her to say something else. Something.. that she couldn't quite figure out. She still hadn't let go of the flower. But she had almost forgotten about it. Releasing it slowly, she pried open Xander's strong hands, ones that had completely enclosed hers earlier, and put the flower in his hand. She pushed his fingers back into the palm so that the flower was enclosed in his palm. She let out another giggle, but didn't turn away. She couldn't turn away.
