In the year of the 60th Hunger Games, a man by the name of Dr. Frederick Arocratus proposed an experiment to the Psychology, Sociology, and Brain Patterns committee of Panem. After the operation was approved, he had the Panem Institute for Psychology, Sociology, and Brain Patterns created in District Six. The experiment lasted only a a couple days before being shut down due to the disappearance of Dr. Arocratus. All subjects and volunteers involved were sent back home and no further word was heard about the experiment or Dr. Arocratus.
The next leading expert in the area of Psychology, one Dr. Augustine Bethlam, was only twenty-seven at the time of Dr. Arocratus' disappearance and judged too young to take over the man's work. Instead, he was required to gain more experience before attempting to take on such a complicated experiment. After eleven years, and founding the Endurance Experiment that focused on the situations and circumstances that could be withstood by Avoxes, Dr. Bethlam was finally allowed to take up the work of the vanished Dr. Frederick Arocratus.

The notes left behind by Dr. Arocratus were intriguing and offered many details on the plans of the experiment. Dr. Bethlam, after reading over the missing doctor's work, spotted a number of improvements that could be made for the test. As with many scenarios, it was always better to have as large of a sample group as possible, and yet Dr. Arocratus had not seemed to have gone for that.
As such, Dr. Bethlam accounted for that discrepancy by adjusting the format of the experiment. Instead of having individuals that varied in gender and district at random, he opted to have twelve subjects, six male and six female, with one coming from each of the districts. It would be almost like a half-reaping, except for the fact that this was not the Hunger Games they were entering, but his own torture grounds.
In addition, the experiments would not be run with a single subject being the only one to experience the condition. Each round of the experiment - there would be twelve of them - will involve all of the volunteers so that there is always a large group to collect behavioural data from. What Dr. Arocratus had called "The Great Experiment" would be made even greater by his predecessor.
Where Dr. Arocratus would have a single cell dedicated to one condition, Dr. Bethlam would dedicate the entire facility. Every so often - the amount of time depending on the condition - there would be a single condition tested. Between each condition would be a few days where the subjects would be given every luxury in order to readjust to normal before the next condition. The initial tests would start off as the most likely to cause death - without factoring in subject reactions - and move to the least likely.
The need for volunteers must now be visible to everyone, and as such it is time to intake the application for entrance to the program. Anyone who wishes to take part can sign up at the local Justice Building where one participant - a male or a female - will be selected.
If you are an engineer, budding scientist, or are interested in the torture and maltreatment of other human beings, you can also apply to be selected as a member of the staff on observation rotation.
For more details, please read the original plot. Please take note of this as I will be referring to the information in that thread a lot. Aside from the changes I talked about above, this will more or less be the same plot.
