PLOT
"Exy is a sport played on a soccer-sized court that has walls and ceilings made of plexiglass. It is "an evolved sort of lacrosse [...] with the violence of ice hockey". A team consists of six players, each of which has a racquet with varying depths of netting. To score, the players must shoot the ball at the goal, a rectangle marked on the shorter wall. The goal will light up in red if it has been hit. The objective of the game is to out-score one's opponents. Exy is played in two forty-five minute halves with a fifteen minute halftime break."
The number one catalyst for entertainment- at least by Capitol standards- has always been boredom. When the Hunger Games grew stale. they threw in quell twists to keep things interesting. When normal animals weren't jarring enough to watch attack teenagers, they invented new, more terrifying ones. As with the surge of new reality shows to hit the air comes Exy, a brand new sport invented and introduced to the districts by the Capitol.
Here's how it works: For the pre-season, each District had its own league. (That means there were several teams contained within each district who competed against all the other teams within said district.) Once the preseason was over, each district took the ten players with the highest stats overall and made them a part of that District's official singular team. These teams will compete against each other by traveling to each other's districts for sanctioned, televised games. The winners will obviously be rewarded handsomely, and will also be called Panem's first ever Exy champions.TEAMS
District One - Dragons
[yellow / white]
District One spared no expense for their team. Each player's armor and equipment is tailor-made, one cannot venture too far out from their homes without seeing one of the many posters or billboards that've been put up for them. Rumors of nepotism run rampant through the district, as seemingly only those who belonged to the district's elite were selected for the team. Could it be true? were they honestly only chosen because of their parents' money? Do they deserve to be here, competing at this level, with other teams who have zero allegations of rigging? Only time and remembering to ask the right questions will solve that one.
REQUIREMENTS TO JOIN:
- Be from a recognizable, well-known family in D1
- Be from a family who are wealthy enough to potentially be a benefactor.
MEMBERS: ELVENA FRAY [TRIS] / SUNNY LE ROUX [ZOE] [4 OPEN SPOTS]
ALTERNATES: [4 OPEN SPOTS]
District Two - Wolves
[purple / silver]
District Two is ranked the preseason favorite for a reason: in typical d2 fashion, they've taken this to the extreme. Their selection process was easily the most rigorous and selective: No more than two players were selected from any one team. Their coaches- at least five of them, to be clear- have also implemented various practice drills which the players are required to succeed in before they're eligible to play in a game. As of now, it is rumored that only the starting six have completed these practice drills to this day.
REQUIREMENTS TO JOIN:
- Be from a different preseason team than either everyone else, or with as many as only one other person
- Be exceptional
MEMBERS: TEAGAN GRIGGS [DARS] / RELDEXX SCARR [CAIT] / SOLVEIG LONG [ARX] / [4 OPEN SPOTS]
ALTERNATES: [4 OPEN SPOTS]
District Three - Jackals
[red / black]
District Three's team is absolute chaos. There are no leaders, or perhaps too many, and several players have each developed their own poor coping mechanisms for all the new-found stress. One player was suspended for failing a drug test. One was moved to second string after playing a scrimmage drunk. It's honestly easy to forget that they're actually very, very good at exy. The chaos they emit is the very same chaos they thrive within. When they play, they give into the madness and allow themselves to go berserk for a while.
REQUIREMENTS TO JOIN:
- Be chaos-aligned
- Don't work particularly well with others
MEMBERS: LOVETT SASSO [RAVE] / [5 OPEN SPOTS]
ALTERNATES: [4 OPEN SPOTS]
District Four - Sharks
[blue / white]
District Four has something to prove. Oft the forgotten of the career district trio, the sharks have two goals this year. One: win, because that's the whole point. Two: beat Districts One and Two, because they're tired of living in the shadows and being under-appreciated. They don't want to be good at Exy. They want to be the best. Their team is well-balanced, well-oiled, and hungry. If the Capitol wants to rank them third that's fine- sharks hunt from beneath.
REQUIREMENTS TO JOIN:
- Be a career
- Hate Districts One and Two
MEMBERS: RALEIGH [TRIS] / REMUS ALBRIGHT [NYTE] / GISELLE POMFREY [RAVE] / ZEKE LOCHLAN [SIDNEY] / ADRIAN NAVARRE [BIRDIE] / INDIA KRIGEL [ZOE]
ALTERNATES: [4 OPEN SPOTS]
District Five - Foxes
[orange / white]
The list of rankings people see now is not the original list. For three whole days when it was first released, the foxes were ranked 5th- right below the stags. Then, exactly one week before the season's start, tragedy struck. Two of the six starters on the team were mysteriously murdered, and with only six days left before their first game, the foxes had to replace a third of their team. As such, their rankings dropped all the way to 11th. Just like that, they went from the hopeful underdogs to the expected easy win.
REQUIREMENTS TO JOIN:
- Be an alternate who was just pulled up a week ago
MEMBERS: BRAD BRADSHAW [ARX] / LEO PIERCE [NYTE] / SPENCER SALEM [DARS] / RIPLEY SLOANE [KAITLIN] / [SIDNEY] / FELIX BERGSTROM [CALLA]
ALTERNATES: [4 OPEN SPOTS]
District Six - Ravens
[purple / red]
They are an entire team of mystery and intrigue. Everyone calls their dorm the aviary, they travel as a singular flock, and they speak to no one unless absolutely necessary. They gel as a team, and seem to have the ability to anticipate one-another's movements. A large majority of the ravens were plucked from the same nests- er, pre-season teams- and thus have the advantage of extra playtime together. However, they don't seem to be particularly strong and will likely be an agility-based team.
REQUIREMENTS TO JOIN:
- Be from the same preseason team as at least two of the others who made the district team
- Have an already-established friendship with most of the team
MEMBERS: CLARA BURNS [SIDNEY] / [5 OPEN SPOTS]
ALTERNATES: [4 OPEN SPOTS]
District Seven - Stags
[green / gold]
While the majority of Seven's team was plucked from the Abadeer and Eden Acadamies, there was no denying that it was well-deserved. The two teams dominated the pre-season back in Seven, with only each other as true rivals. Now, they are faced with the issue of working with one another instead of against. Ababeer, an all boys school, and Eden, the sister school for girls only a short walk away. Those few who weren't from either feel a particular pressure to draw everyone in and figure out a way that they can prove why they made the top five in rankings.
REQUIREMENTS TO JOIN:
MOST: Be from either Abadeer's all-boys boarding school, or Eden's all-girls boarding school
FEW: be from a lesser preseason team in which your character was the only one chosen
MEMBERS: CASSIE FIGAROE [DARS] / DANNY [NYTE] / [4 OPEN SPOTS]
ALTERNATES: [4 OPEN SPOTS]
District Eight - Vipers
[red / white]
They are... aptly named, to say the least. Their low ranking comes, not from their ability to play exy, but from their inability to play a fair game. They're dirty. They're the team who heard that you hurt your knee last game so they make sure to knock your feet from under you as soon as they can. Ironically enough, the vipers hold the record for having the least amount of red cards this season. That's because they're smart, those vipers- serpents lying in wait beneath the flower. They do not break the rules, they just bend them beyond repair. And fans eagerly watch to see if their clever tactics will translate as well-or even be allowed- in a professional league.
REQUIREMENTS TO JOIN:
- Play dirty
MEMBERS: THEO [ARC] / CAPTAIN WOODS [RAVE] / [4 OPEN SPOTS]
ALTERNATES: [4 OPEN SPOTS]
District Nine - Weasels
[purple / white]
At the bottom of the barrel in terms of rankings is the Weasels from Nine. They saw exy as a potential light at the end of a very dark tunnel. They only accepted players with arrest records- bastards and broken fools and street urchins and anyone else society had already given up on. As reputations usually do, theirs preceded them. As such, they enter the season with the most combined yellow cards and red cards, despite not even being a particularly dirty team. The odds have- yet again- been stacked against them, but they are determined to prove that a past does not define a person, and a future can be bright regardless of if the present is dark.
REQUIREMENTS TO JOIN:
- Have a criminal record (Note that innocent children of criminal parents will NOT be allowed)
MEMBERS: [6 OPEN SPOTS]
ALTERNATES: [4 OPEN SPOTS]
District Ten - Longhorns
[green / gray]
The longhorns hold the best backliner stats of the season- several of the selected players played predominately backliner in their pre-season teams. As such, most of them are quite strong, and quite capable. They are easily the favorites of the lower-district teams, but they have a particularly low scoring average. Perhaps too much defense, not enough offense. The longhorns work particularly well together and seem to be in good standing with all of the other teams- a group of people who seem to value the importance of sportsmanship. But don't let their friendly playstyle deter you from the truth: they want to win. And if things go their way, they might.
REQUIREMENTS TO JOIN:
- Be a preseason Backliner or maybe a particularly stronk Dealer
- Highest stat must be strength
MEMBERS: [6 OPEN SPOTS]
ALTERNATES: [4 OPEN SPOTS]
District Eleven - Hornets
[yellow / black]
Both the smallest and the quickest, the hornets are not seen as particular favorites to win, but this is largely because eleven and twelve both had much smaller pre-seasons than the other districts, and as such had a smaller pool of players to move up to league position. However, the hornets are scrappy, and experienced, and used to being overlooked. With a good team captain to steer them in the right direction, the hornets could be a team worthy of everyone's respect.
REQUIREMENTS TO JOIN:
- Highest stat must be speed
- Lowest stat must be endurance
MEMBERS: AZAR RHODES [EMSROCKS] / [CALLA] [4 OPEN SPOTS]
ALTERNATES: [4 OPEN SPOTS]
District Twelve - Bobcats
[gray / black]
The extra tessera in recent times has been a real savior for the people in Twelve, it would seem. The bobcats are one of the taller teams, one of the quicker teams, and one of the stronger teams. But they aren't the best at anything. Contrary-wise, they aren't the worst at anything either. Even still, they've completely defied people's expectations thus far, and are ranked higher than people would've originally thought. The blending of several pre-season teams ultimately made for a quite well-balanced league team, perfectly capable of stealing the win if they truly want it.
REQUIREMENTS TO JOIN:
- May only have stats in the 2-4 range (pre-assignment)
- Endurance cannot be the lowest (or equal to the lowest) stat
MEMBERS: [6 OPEN SPOTS]
ALTERNATES: [4 OPEN SPOTS]RULES/FAQ
I'll be posting an in-depth explanation of how the game works and linking it here sometime soon! Just know I have created- and tested- a new system and I can't wait for you guys to give it a try!!
- Each character is already good at playing. Keep in mind they were good enough to be chosen for their District's official team. No one should be noticeably terrible at playing the game unless there is something causing them to be.
- Character stats will be locked in before positions are assigned. This is to prevent people from stacking in one category, and also to make things realistic. Your characters should feasibly be able to successfully play any role. If they have really terrible stats to be a striker and they end up playing striker, it could very well be their fault their team doesn't win.
- All rolling for a given game will take place before the actual thread. This is to keep posting expectations to a reasonable level, and also to give all those involved a clear narrative.
- In-character rules and other in-character mechanics for how the game will work can be found here.
- This plot will be first come first serve. If six people have already successfully applied to a team, your character is welcome to apply as an alternate.
- If a starter player does not take part in a game, they will be permanently replaced by an alternate if there is one available, or an NPC if there is not. (This does not include characters being punished for in-character purposes.)
- For now, I am allowing everyone to enter up to 3 characters. You may only have one character on any given team. If there is room and interest, I may open it up to allow you guys to enter more characters later.KEEP IN MIND:
- This is the first time this league has existed. This sport is brand new. The winners this year will be the first ever. There are not any pre-existing famous Exy-players. No one has dedicated their entire lives to this game.
- All characters must be between ages 17-24
- No characters have set positions yet. That, and team captains, will be decided after everyone's character stats have been set.
- After rosters/starting positions are released, characters will get 2 additional points to add to categories that might help them in said positions.
- Each team has been gifted a stadium in their home district, which they practice on. Most games take place in these courts, which means the characters will be travelling from District to District, and may even be away from home within their own districts during the season, in order to be closer to their stadium.
- The final game will take place in the Capitol.APPLICATIONS
