Cornucopia What reaches the tributes first in the darkness of their ascent is not the light of the Arena, but the chill. Several specks of white frost fall into the shadows before breaking into an entire world of white. The first thing the tributes will discover upon the conclusion of their elevation into the Arena, is that they stand upon the top of a snow crested hill. From the frozen plateau, they can see the rest of the icy world which is now their reality. Towering before them, the Cornucopia is entirely sculpted of ice with its tip seemingly reaching to touch the sky. As the winter winds whip through the air, the horn seems to eternally emit a low echoing hum in response. credit: Arrows |

Glass Lake There is an abnormal silence that settles over this region of the Arena. Not even the sound of a single crack creaks out from beneath your steps when you walk across the slick surface. The unnatural tendencies of this scenically stunning sight stretch further than sound though. The water seems so perfectly preserved that it is as if it is not a lake of liquid at all, but of glass. This breathes the question: just how fragile is this place? And what happens when it shatters... credit: Arrows |

Ghost Trees A beautiful but dangerous reminder of what once was. All that remains of this forest is ice outlines of trees that used to stand in their place. The trunks are not oddly enough not cold to the touch, but it’s hard to tell the difference when the whole arena chills the tributes straight to the bone. Each one is incredibly detailed, down to the individual twigs on each branch. They are clear as glass and surprisingly appear to be rather sturdy. But be careful. Breathe too heavy and they all may just shatter. credit: gamemaker sloane ♕ kaяi ♕ |

Bonfire Finally, a place that seems warm enough to bring blood back to frostbitten fingers and cherry red noses. But as tributes approach they will realize how wrong they were. The eternal flames give off no heat, not even the smallest amount. The air surrounding the fire is just as cold and unforgiving as the rest of the Arena. Six wooden stumps are scattered evenly around the fire, perfect for a quick rest. There’s not a single tree in sight, so where could they have possibly come from? And what will happen if someone dares to take a seat? credit: gamemaker sloane ♕ kaяi ♕ |

Foxholes Though there is less snow in this area, the grass is leeched of color and eternally frozen. It grows in patches large enough to hide either friend or foe with small expanses of ice and frost woven in between. Most notable, though, are the tiny holes and caves that can be found at almost every step. They seem to indicate an entire underground network that is no doubt home to a variety of creatures. Tributes entering the fox holes may be wary of twisting their ankles, but they should perhaps be more concerned about what it is exactly inside those dark little spaces. credit: Stare |

Tundra Cold and barren. Those are the words that come to mind when looking at the tundra, a vast expanse of land almost completely blanketed in snow. Dark stone and scraggly brown grass peeks out in patches, but for the most part everything is frozen and unforgiving. The delicacy of the glass lake and the ghost trees is absent here - instead the land feels solid, powerful, sharp. Tributes who wander throughout the area may notice the empty silence that hangs over everything, broken only by the occasional howl of the wind. Or at least, what they hope is the wind. credit: Stare |
