i really loved this particular scene/oneshot and thought i was terribly clever for writing it at the time lmaooo, the original scene it references can be found here.

The hologram disappears, swirling up into nothing - and then it explodes......

...."Poppy?" (Sam) asks to the air, taking a dazed step toward Reese on the ground.

And then she looks up, right into Paisley's eyes, and gasps.

"Paisley?"

"Stop," whispers Paisley, shaking her head, face red with anguish and tears. "Stop."

"Paisley don't-!"

The mountainside vanishes with the wind.

as awful as the 75th insta'ing tris was, having scarlett crush brooke's skull and just look up and say this lives in my head rent free. and i wrote it! lmao

A fist to the face and a crunch she's all too familiar with, Brooke Destin crumples in front of her, knuckles stinging white-hot - it's just a warm up.

"Who's next?!" she grins, all black eyes and violent intentions.

re-reading these physically pains me but i love this line and think ab it all the time (and i think kay complimented it once and i was so flattered!)

★ october 4th; warm & fuzzy moment

thinking about terra and lachlan 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year! not the warmiest of fuzzies given the setting but this was the first time she'd made a genuine friend and was glad to see them, and the last before she met mohamed! 

Friend, she thinks warmly, blinking at the small boy that stands a few meters away. In the corner of her vision two more tributes climb aboard, and under the shouts of tributes on the wind and the applause from the crowd the world falls away for a moment.

"Lachlan," she breathes, breaking into a grin as she stumbles forward. The tip of her cutlass drags across the wooden deck, leaving a thin line etched beside damp footprints. Terra stops at his side and smiles, drinking him in for a moment. Her thoughts become words, "Friend".

A little gasp, caught my the feeling of my heart in my throat. There's a spade clutched between my gloved fingers, one from the groundskeeper's stash I'd found three months ago. Qui ne dit mot consent.

He who says nothing consents, so I play our story rehearsed like a verse in my head. I work here. I work at the graveyard. I dig graves for a living - lead with that, it's not a lie.

bow harvard's entire character is just pure gay chaos

I ended up pounding on the front door of Harvard House hollering as loud as my little voicebox would allow. Something along the lines of "HELLO?? IS THIS THE GAY ORPHANAGE? OPEN UP GAY PEOPLE THE HOMOPHOBE KEEPS ARE GONNA GET ME!"

Fell face-first into the entrance hall, but hey - I was inside!

The rage never comes. The blackout. That temporary loss he craves, and when he realises it's not coming back either he is in agony.

Audrey wakes and finds him on the floor. She says nothing - even though his face says everything she needs to know.

pulled a concept i remember reading from that throne of glass book (tbh it was the only thing i remembered about it because i think i blacked it out) where the MC gets her other arm broken to learn how to fight left-handed. ended up memeing about it with lalia in the dms lmao!

For five years they trained us to be ruthless and polite, hostile and graceful. To say "Sir" and "Ma'am" and how to poison Peacekeepers in the night. How to communicate with nothing but a whistle or a tap of my foot. How to fight with my weak hand when they broke my right...

★ october 13th; a line in which your character is actually you

far too many self-depricating themes to choose from tbh!!!! but here's one that rly hit me in the chest recently

Deflecting is my second-worst habit, so I get us another cup of water and sit back down. "I'm just..." hungover. Is telling a truth in place of another a lie? Tapping my nail on the side of the plastic cup like it's a tick I can't control, when in reality it's just filling empty space until I come up with another truth that satisfies Leo.

"I'm just too much sometimes, y'know?" voice hushed, quieter than the birds outside. "And I know it, and yet I can't stop it."

★ october 14th; funniest line

this is the only one i could think of because it won quote otm! slate was a riot lmao

oh good LORD we are headed into the archives with this one!

had to pick two of these from the same day with jules. this whole thing was so heartbreaking to write, idk i think about jules all the time - especially this games day - and she breaks me into pieces.

"They're my favourite people in the entire world. And I-"

My voice cracks, my eyes sting, my soul shatters.

"A-and I hope I'm worth it, you know? To them. To Mom..."

Rat-a-tat-tat, I'm the rat and hooooooooooly shit I think I might be dreaming. Blood on my knuckles and the crook of my elbow still aches from choking out that Keeper at the door. Chest heaving, head racing, a shit-eating grin with my tongue flicking between the gap in my teeth.

"MISTER FENWICK!" I shouldn't be here this late, not when the air's still got that February chill at this hour. There's steam coming off of my knuckles, huh, ain't that funny? Anyway-

Rat-a-tat-tatt! Tatt tatt! The urgent knock, it means business. "MISTER FENWI-ahh!"

The yelp tumbles with me onto the floor. Dysphoric, I grumble and find my footing - no time to be a klutz today, even if the door did open suddenly and I fell over my own feet.

i'm garbage at dialogue but this always makes me smile
